2. Personal Data Collection and Processing
2.1. Browsing the Website
The website content does not use any cookies or similar tracking technologies. No personal data is collected while browsing.
2.2. Using the Service
Using the Service means logging in and then creating a collaboration session or joining such a session in order to share document contents. When you use the Service in this way, we process the following types of personal data:
- User Information: When you log in to the Service, we collect your name and email address. This information is not stored on our servers, but sent to the client (i.e. the user's IDE or web browser, depending on how you have accessed the Service) in the form of a JSON Web Token (JWT). The JWT holds your provided User Information in encrypted form.
- Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with the Service, such as User Information as described above, dates and times of access, and features of the Service you use, within the server's logging system. This Usage Data stored in the logging system can only be accessed by a small group of system administrators.
2.3. Shared Content
During collaboration sessions, participants share content including text selections, cursor positions, and proposed changes (collectively, “Shared Content”). This Shared Content is transmitted between participants but is not stored on our servers or elsewhere by us. When the Shared Content is transmitted between participants, it is encrypted in a way that we cannot access it.
3. Use of Personal Data
We use your User Information for the following purposes:
- To show who you are to the host of a collaboration session. The host can decide to grant or deny access to a user trying to join a session.
- To display a list of participants to every participant of a collaboration session.
We use your Usage Data for the following purposes:
- To communicate with you, analyze issues, and respond to your inquiries in the event of a complaint.
- To meet the legal requirements in the event of a legal dispute.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data to outside parties except as described in this Privacy Policy. We may share your personal data with:
- Service Providers: Third parties who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting and maintaining the Service, are given access to your personal data only to the extent necessary to perform their services.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, such as a court or government agency.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including any legal or reporting requirements.
User Information is not retained within our infrastructure, but only on the machine you are using to access the Service.
Usage Data is retained for a fixed amount of time and then deleted automatically. In the event of a complaint or legal dispute, we may be required to create copies of the corresponding Usage Data.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
